Applicability of taxable services for May 2012 and November 2012 examinations:-

Professional Competence Examination :-
It is clarified that in Part –II : Service tax and VAT of Paper 5 : Taxation, students will not be tested on specific questions covering individual taxable services.

Integrated Professional Competence Examination :-
It is clarified that in Part –II : Service tax and VAT of Paper 4 : Taxation, students will be examined only in respect of the following taxable services:

Free Online Exam Forms for November 2011

The next Professional Competence Examination (PCE), Integrated Professional Competence Examination (IPCE) and Final Examinations of the Institute will be held from 1st November to 17th November 2011. Notification and detailed announcement thereon have already been hosted on ICAI website www.icai.org.

Applications for admission to Professional Competence Examination (PCE), Integrated Professional Competence Examination (IPCE) and Final examination can be made either through the online mode at http://icaiexam.icai.org or through physical application forms.

The physical forms for PCE, IPCE and Final examinations are priced at Rs 500/- per form.

In order to encourage the student community to take to on-line applications, it has been decided to waive off the cost of application form (i. e, Rs 500/-) in respect of candidates who fill in their forms online at http://icaiexam.icai.org and remit the examination fee online by using either VISA or Master credit/debit card.

Students may note the following:

Last date for submission of physical/on-line forms without late fee- 30.08.11
Last date for submission of physical/on-line forms with late fee of Rs 500/- 06.09.11

Students are advised to take advantage of the facility of submitting on-line applications and save on the cost of the exam form, cost of demand drafts etc.

Sub: Exclusion of certain topics in the CA Final Examination to be held in November,
2011 and thereafter

On a review of the syllabus for the Final Course, the Council has decided to exclude the
following topics from the Final Examination to be held in November, 2011 and thereafter:-
Paper 1 Financial Reporting
- Inflation Accounting
Paper 5 Advanced Management Accounting
- Time Series Analysis; and
- Test of Hypothesis.


Students are advised to note the change.

PRESS RELEASE
The Central Board of Direct Taxes has notified the scheme exempting salaried
taxpayers with total income up to Rs.5 lakh from filing income tax return for assessment year
2011-12, which will be due on July 31, 2011.
Individuals having total income up to Rs.5,00,000 for FY 2010-11, after allowable
deductions, consisting of salary from a single employer and interest income from deposits in
a saving bank account up to Rs.10,000 are not required to file their income tax return. Such
individuals must report their Permanent Account Number (PAN) and the entire income from
bank interest to their employer, pay the entire tax by way of deduction of tax at source, and
obtain a certificate of tax deduction in Form No.16.
Persons receiving salary from more than one employer, having income from sources
other than salary and interest income from a savings bank account, or having refund claims
shall not be covered under the scheme.
The scheme shall also not be applicable in cases wherein notices are issued for filing
the income tax return under section 142(1) or section 148 or section 153A or section 153C of
the Income Tax Act 1961.

Campus Placement for Members & Students

The Institute is organizing a Campus Placement for the fresher members for job placement and for students for their 15 Months Training on Saturday, the 30th April,
2011 at NOIDA office of ICSI, C-37,Sector 62, NOIDA-201301

Process to be followed for Campus Placement scheduled to be held on 30th April 2011
1. Name of the participating companies will be announced at the Campus.
2. Students already undergoing 15 Months training are not eligible to participate in
the Campus Placement.
3. The résumés of all the eligible candidates will be given to the company coming
for participating in the event.
4. Résumés of candidates will be collected on the same day i.e. 30th April 2011.
5. The companies will shortlist from the lot of résumés and interview the candidates
as shortisted by them. Hence, a candidate will get opportunity for interview only
if his/her resume is shortlisted by a company.
6. The résumés of the candidates once appeared for the interview will not be
forwarded to the other company so as to provide opportunity to other
candidates.
7. The candidates attending the Campus Placement are expected to come in formal
dress and bring 4 copies of their CV & passport colour photograph.
8. The members and students are requested to invariably mention their
Membership No and Registration No respectively in their resume
9. The candidates are requested to be present at NOIDA office of ICSI, C-
37,Sector 62, NOIDA-201301 on 30th April, 2011 at 10.00 A.M.
10.In order to provide the orientation to the members for facing the interviews, it
has been decided to organize a orientation program on 29th April, 2011 at 5.30PM
in the auditorium of ICSI-NIRC Building, 4, Prasad Nagar Institutional Area, New

Print Specifications for SAHAJ and SUGAM in Income Tax Return


Print Specifications for SAHAJ and SUGAM
1. Printing of the forms should be according to the standards set below
• No Black and White forms will be accepted and only standard forms with appropriate colors prescribed, fonts used, paper size, paper quality, Bar Code Values will be accepted by the department
• Key aspects of the forms are listed below
i. Size of the paper should be A4 Sheet- (8.268 inches by 11.693 inches / 210mm by 297 mm )
ii. Quality of the paper should be White Paper and above 70GSM. The Paper thickness should be of Executive Bond quality with a minimum of 70 GSM and above
iii. Registration Marks should be present at every page and the coordinates of the same are indicated in the Sample Form given in Annexure A. It should be 0.25” from the top edge and the left corner edge.
iv. There should be a series of square dots which should be placed on the both sides of the pages on every page. The distance of the same should be 0.32” from the left edge. The square dots are uniformly spaced at 3mm distance from each other
v. Bar Code Specifications should be in Code 39 Format. The Position and Size of the Bar Code should be as Per Annexure A

Provision of 15 Minutes for Reading & Planning in Exams


The Council of the Institute, based on the recommendation of the Examination Committee has decided to allow 15-minute reading and planning time allowance to the candidates in the Chartered Accountants Examinations before the scheduled commencement of the examinations i.e, if the examination commences from 2.00 PM, then the candidates will be given Question Papers at 1.45 PM. This reading time will not be available for CPT and all post qualification Courses Examinations.
The objective of providing question paper 15 minutes before the scheduled time is to:
(i) Enable the candidates to read the question paper thoroughly (without encroaching on the examination duration) and
(ii) Chalk out the strategy to answer the questions.
Candidates are required to note the following in this regard:
(1) The candidates will not be allowed to leave the Examination Hall under any circumstances from 1.45 PM to 3.00 PM.
(2) The candidates shall be allowed to enter the hall from 1.30 PM upto 2.30 PM only.
Any breach of the above requirements would be treated as adopting Unfair Means by the students concerned and applicable disciplinary action would be taken on such erring students.
